Dictionary of Ecological Economics Published

This comprehensive Dictionary brings together an extensive range of definitive terms in ecological economics. The editors, Brent Haddad & Barry Solomon, assembled contributions from 450 distinguished scholars in the field.

The Dictionary provides an intellectual map to this evolving subject ranging from the practical to the philosophical. Following a short review of the intellectual and organisational origins of this field by Joan Martínez-Alier, 1,129 terms are defined with their meanings and uses in ecological economics explained. In addition, most of the terms include recommendations for further reading to provide greater context and understanding, alongside citations to allow for further illustration on how a term is used in the field.

Encompassing a broad overview of the field, this Dictionary will be a useful reference for students at all levels, alongside faculty and researchers. It will also be an informative resource for government and NGO professionals in environmental conservation to better understand the crucial vocabulary that governs their field.

*ISEE members who are not contributors to the Dictionary, can purchase it for 35% off the listing price by using the discount code ECO2535. The code is valid until 24 April 2023.

*Maximum six discounted books per customer. Not valid on eBook format or in conjunction with any other offer, including member discount. Customers in Europe will still be liable for Customs/Tax/VAT. The discount cannot be used for books intended for resale.

The ISEE Journal, Ecological Economics

The journal is concerned with extending and integrating the understanding of the interfaces and interplay between «nature’s household» (ecosystems) and «humanity’s household» (the economy).

Ecological economics is an interdisciplinary field defined by a set of concrete problems or challenges related to governing economic activity in a way that promotes human well-being, sustainability, and justice. The journal thus emphasizes critical work that draws on and integrates elements of ecological science, economics, and the analysis of values, behaviors, cultural practices, institutional structures, and societal dynamics.

The journal is transdisciplinary in spirit and methodologically open, drawing on the insights offered by a variety of intellectual traditions, and appealing to a diverse readership.
