Postdoctoral Researcher on the governance of decentralized renewable energy systems

We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scholar on the governance of renewable energy systems, particularly solar. This research is crucial as power systems are transitioning from a top-down control of the energy supply to a decentralized system with variable, uncertain, and asynchronous energy generation. This shift can challenge the stable, economic, and reliable operation of the power system. To govern this increasingly decentralized energy system requires cooperation among the diverse energy consumers, producers, and prosumers to provide reliable and affordable energy. Your role in this research will be instrumental in shaping the future of renewable energy systems.

The position is within Arizona State University (ASU)’s Center for Behavior, Institutions and the Environment (CBIE), a unique transdisciplinary endeavor aimed at improving our understanding of effective governance of social-ecological systems through an increased understanding of the interactions of human behavior, institutional arrangements, and the biophysical environment. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative institution and contribute to cutting-edge research.

The research methods will include qualitative and quantitative approaches, such as in-depth interviews, literature reviews, surveys, and computational modeling.

This is a full-time, fiscal-year (12-month) appointment which is renewable annually. The anticipated start date is January 2025. Application Deadline: September 1, 2024.
