The EC clears FiTs for 6 offshore wind projects in France (2.9 GW)

The European Commission has approved the support for six offshore wind projects in France. the support was deemed to be in line with EU State aid rules and to help the country meet its climate and renewable energy targets. France plans to offer support in the form of a 20-year feed-in tariffs scheme to six offshore wind projects. The projects were selected through two tenders in 2011 and 2012 and are the EDF-led 450 MW Courselles-sur-Mer, the 498 MW Fécamp, the 480 MW Saint-Nazaire, the 496 MW Iles d’Yeu / Noirmoutier, the 496 MW Dieppe / Le Tréport (proposed by a consortium of Engie and EDP), and the 496 MW Saint-Brieuc. Their construction is expected to start in 2019 and the projects should be operational in 2022.

Saudi Arabia seeks to reduce oil exports through the Gulf
