2nd Meeting of the Open-ended Working Group on the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework

At its second meeting, the Working Group commented on the zero draft of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework that was released in January 2020. Delegates approved the final recommendation of the meeting compiled by Co-Chairs Francis Ogwal (Uganda) and Basile van Havre (Canada), and adopted the meeting’s report. English

13th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Migratory Species of Wild Animals

Parties adopted the Gandhinagar Declaration calling for migratory species and “ecological connectivity” to be integrated and prioritized in the post-2020 global biodiversity framework. Parties also added 10 new species to the Convention on Migratory Species Appendices, approved conservation plans for 14 species, and adopted other measures benefiting migratory species. Spanish

6th session of the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development

The official opening of the sixth Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD 2020) took place on Tuesday morning, in the presence of UN Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed, and Zimbabwe’s President, Emmerson Mnangagwa, A high-level panel analyzed progress towards the 2030 Agenda and Africa’s Agenda 2063, followed by an exchange of experiences on country experiences with Voluntary National Reviews and Voluntary Local Reviews of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). English

Contract – Prices and costs of energy

Enerdata, in partnership with Trinomics and LBST, is launching a new data collection and analysis project in relation to energy prices for the European Commission (DG Energy). It aims to gather a better understanding of the key factors affecting the cost of energy in the European Union.

Company news – Enerdata scenarios included in Mexico’s transition strategy

Mexico just adopted the revision of its energy transition strategy. Enerdata assisted CONUEE, the national energy efficiency agency of Mexico, in defining the energy demand scenarios and targets described in the strategy using a Mexican version of its MedPro model, with the support of ADEME and AFD.

Event – EDF workshop on long-term energy markets

EDF’s Sesame International Workshop took place in Paris (La Défense) on 23rd January, 2020. Enerdata presented key results on the global long-term evolution of energy demand and CO2 emissions, especially high decarbonization pathways. A second presentation consisted of an analysis of the energy transition in emerging Asian countries.
